Multi-Camera - Case Study
The MISSION:
Returning from a year of lockdowns, a London drama school eagerly rehearsed for their end of year shows. It was going to be their first and only chance to perform in front of a live audience… until it was announced the UK would enter another lockdown. The students were rightly devastated.
Contracted by the University to facilitate a live broadcast of the shows, FilmCor assembled a team, working within the lockdown restrictions, to capture the third year’s end of year shows.
My vision was to produce something beyond what I had seen before- a series of wide shots from the back of a room; but to instead use cinema cameras and long telephoto lenses to capture the student’s performances in close up and provide some well-deserved spectacle to their end of year event.
Utilising a three-camera setup, in total…
13 full shows were produced…
ranging in length from 2 hours to 2.5 hours each.
2 Shakespeare plays, 5 musicals, 2 Theban tragedies and 4 contemporary pieces.
That’s 28 hours of edited content!
